Tape description	Archival footage on Russian revolution 1917. In October 1917, Vladimir Lenin, the leader of the Bolsheviks Lenin convinced the Bolshevik Party to form an immediate insurrection against the Provisional Government. The armed workers known as Red Guards and the other revolutionary groups moved on the night of Nov. 6-7 under the orders of the Soviet's Military Revolutionary Committee. These forces seized post and telegraph offices, electric works, railroad stations, and the state bank. Once the shot rang out from the Battleship Aurora, the thousands of people in the Red Guard stormed the Winter Palace. The Provisional Government had officially fallen to the Bolshevik regime, announced his attempt to construct the socialist order in Russia. The video also presents a documentary on Lenin’s life in Petrograd in 1919. The voice over depicts events happened during the days that Lenin stayed in hotel “Astoria”. The political and economic situation in the revolutionary city leaves much to be desired. People suffer from hunger, factories are out of work. Lenin conducts speeches in Tavrichesky palace; he wants soldiers and other citizens to struggle hard against the opposite-minded Mensheviks and anarchists. Meanwhile Lenin lives in great sorrow, Mark Elizarov, his dearest friend died not long ago. The chronicle presents Lenin during the funeral, numerous photos of the first Soviet leader, Soviet newspapers of the time, agriculture workers meeting. Also shown are monuments of St. Petersburg’s architecture such as Smolny and Peter and Paul cathedrals, Neva panoramas and Liteiny Avenue.
