Tape description	Archival footage of the first nuclear testing in the USSR. Explosion was filmed close to Semipalatinsk city on August 29th, 1949. This very video was shown to Stalin as an acknowledgement of the nuclear weapon creation in Soviet Union. Shots of nuclear bomb explosion; shots of high building destruction from a nuclear blast wave. Shots of the leading scientistc Igor Kurchatov, an atomic bomb maker. Kurchatov watched an explosion from a bunker several kilometres away, he cheered after the shock wave passed their bunker. "It worked! It worked!". Video and pictures of 1946 illustrating the creation of the first nuclear reactor in Kurchatov Center. It produced only a few watts when demonstrated and Soviet government was unimpressed. But Kurchatov and his team were ecstatic and Kurchatov proclaimed: "Our first hundred watts from a nuclear reaction. Atomic energy is servant to Soviet man."; Photos of young nuclear physicists, assistants of Kurchatov: Igor Ponasjuk and George Fedorin. Shots of parade held on the Red Square in November 7, 1957 demonstrating military techniques, first strategic rockets.
