Tape description	On the 26th of March 1995, sarin gas was released in a Tokyo subway station. The deadly action was traced back to a cult called Aum Shinrikyo. In 1984 its leader, Shoko Asahara (the real name is Chizuo Matsumoto) founded Aum, or Supreme Truth based on blend of Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity. Asahara announced that it is necessary to prepare for the inevitable Armageddon, and his followers began construction of nuclear shelters and communes where they could escape worldly distractions. Aum produced biochemical weapons, including advanced nerve agents. Asahara was sentenced to death for the numerous crimes. But the cult, which has changed its name to Aleph, still exists. The footage demonstrates the consequences of the infamous subway gas attack in Tokyo underground when 12 people were killed and thousands injured (special forces cleaning the train, people suffering from suffocation). Aum Shinrikyo is an exceptionally well-organized sect with contacts outside Japan, notably in Russia. Recorded are scenes of Asahara arriving in Moscow, young people meditating, interviews to a Russian follower of Aum: he speaks on Aum, trying to hide his face under umbrella; scenes of the law process and interviews to mothers of two Aum followers, the building of Moscow Aum office. Also recorded are views of the State Duma and Moscow underground station.
