The footage is filmed on the Volga River, the longest river in Europe, about 2,300 miles (3,700 km). It originates in the Valday Hills northwest of Moscow, and then heads east past Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan. Filmed are views of these cities, ancient monuments of architecture, cathedrals and fortresses, old wooden buildings and the new high rise apartments.
Spectacular views of Volga, known in Russian folklore as Mother Volga, low hills, green riverbanks and beautiful sunsets filmed from a ship rolling down the river. Filmed are landings, engine-room, deck-cabin, the ship going through a shipping lock. Recorded are interviews to the crew, they speak on technical equipment of the ship.
