This historical documentary depicts the Russian tsar’s family controversial burial process.
On July 17, 1998 over a million people attended the burial of the last Imperial monarch of Russia, Tsar Nicholas II, his beloved Tsarina Alexandra, and three of their five children Olga, Tatiana, and Maria. Russia's last tsar, his family, and servants were brutally murdered in 1918 and the remains lay undiscovered until 7 year ago on the outskirts of the Ural town of Yekaterinburg. Foreign & Russian scientists have examined the remains for DNA identification.. Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church was not persuaded of their authenticity and demanded the government's official ruling before burial. The burial was very controversial with many people from the political leadership not attending. First, Yeltsin was going to go, then wasn't going to go, back and forth, until finally he didn't go.

On July 17, 1998 many noble distant relatives of the tsar's family came from around the world to attend the ceremony. Documentary includes an interview with Princess Mariya Romanova; the great-niece of the last Russian tsar came from Madrid with her mother and her son.
