Kurchatov watched an explosion from a bunker several kilometres away, he cheered after the shock wave passed their bunker. "It worked! It worked!". But Kurchatov and his team were ecstatic and Kurchatov proclaimed: "Our first hundred watts from a nuclear reaction.
