It was built under the supervision of the Italian architect Pietro Antonio Solario. In 1624, it was removed and donated to a provincial monastery, and the English watchmaker Christopher Galloway made a new one for the Kremlin. With the help of thirteen small bells, Galloway's clock was able to 'play music,' as the expression went.
